From the time I started climbing, routesetting had always fascinated me. I noticed how absorbed the setters were in their work; the world around their little setting zone disappeared. I was intrigued.

I was asked if I wanted the opportunity to set, and I took it without hesitation. I came to understand that in routesetting, time is precious. The entire day can slip through your fingers if you don’t have a solid grip on it.

I first learned what flow felt like through climbing. I found that routesetting gave me that same, wonderful, feeling. Where time no longer exists, the mind is focused on just one thing, and nothing else matters.

I instantly fell in love; it was climbing but it was not climbing. In parallel to climbing, you can keep working hard to improve, and the game has infinite levels (well, sort of). Setting has also allowed me to work in the field I am so passionate about and uniquely connect with the community.

I strive to continue growing as a setter and climber for as long as possible. Like climbing, one of the best ways to learn is from people with more experience than you, so I am always looking for guest-setting opportunities and workshops. I also believe that the best way to learn and drill in a topic is by teaching it, which is why I offer beginner routesetting courses.
