Frequently asked questions.

Should I start a training plan if I am currently injured?

It depends. If the injury limits you from climbing and exercising due to pain or a high risk of re-injury, it’s best that you work with a physiotherapist, doctor, or the like (it helps if they are climbers themselves, let me know if you want to recommendations) to address the problem before starting a training plan and doing anything that might aggravate the injury. If the injury is minor, we can work around it. In any case, continuing training or physical activity is important for health and recovery.

Is there an initiation, pause, or cancellation fee?

No. There are no hidden fees! If you need to pause or cancel for whatever reason, you can do so for free.

How long will it take for me to see progress?

It depends on what you perceive as progress. If we work together to identify your strengths and weaknesses, establish goals, and determine what you need to work on, isn’t that a step in the right direction? Isn’t that progress? For example, when you work on a project and find a micro-adjustment that makes the sequence 1% more efficient, you have made progress and are closer to achieving the send. Progress does not always mean breaking into a new grade or adding 10lbs to a lift; it can mean refining your tactics and beta, learning a movement habit that may be inhibiting you, or discovering that you’ve been neglecting using some muscles and, in turn, creating an imbalance. Change is progress. It does not matter if that change is tangible. In my coaching, I make it a point to discuss your goals (short- and long-term) and what you believe to be progression. Progress is subjective. Returning to the original question of how long it will take to progress. Well, it could be a day or a year, depending on your definition of progress. Ultimately, if you show up every session with a plan, intention, and focus, how can you not make progress?

If I work with you remotely, how would you address the technical side of climbing?

I highly encourage athletes I work with to upload videos of themselves working through problems so I can provide video reviews. In the video reviews, I’ll provide movement feedback and beta advice to help you progress on climbs at your limit.

What type of clients does Atomique Coaching work with?

I work with motivated climbers of all levels, whether you are a beginner stoked on this new sport or a veteran with a decade of experience looking to refine your training approach. I specialize in strength and outdoor bouldering training, but I also work with sport, multi-pitch, trad, and competitive climbers. I put a lot of emphasis on climbing movement, technique and efficiency, which applies to all disciplines.
